CSJ-T Safety Joint — Emergency Backoff Device

Model CSJ-T Safety Joint is an optional emergency backoff device. The Safety Joint releases the work string and tools above the packer if the packer becomes stuck during operations. The Safety Joint is located immediately above the packer. It can transfer torque, set down and tension load.

To initiate the release of the CSJ-T Safety Joint, a tension sleeve located on the bottom of the mandrel must firstly be parted by pulling up the work string. However, this action alone is not sufficient to release the joint but must be followed by keeping right-hand torque while the work string is reciprocated in a specific number of cycles. This unique design can effectively prevent unintentional release.
